Salford Red Devils trials

Veterans in Salford are being offered free transport to an exclusive Armed Forces Day event at Salford Stadium.

The initiative will offer veterans free transport to the stadium, where live music and family entertainment will welcome a match between Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils on Sunday 25 June.

Organised by Transport for Greater Manchester, Go North West and The Trafford Centre,  the transport initiative features various routes to get to the stadium:

  • Veterans who carry their veterans badge or MOD90 card, or cadets travelling in uniform can travel for FREE on the Metrolink.
  • A shuttle bus service will operate from BAY 16 at the Trafford Centre to the stadium pre-match. A full timetable can be found on the link above, with travel FREE for servicemen/women, veterans, match/season ticket holders, pass holders and under 16s.

For everyone else, tickets are priced at £2 for a single or £3 return. Buses will run every 15 minutes from 11am and every eight minutes from 12pm, until the last pre-match service at 2:45pm.

On the day, a stage will be in place on the South side of the stadium, where Festival DJ and Host, Dave Sweetmore will be MC from 12pm.

Then, at 1:15pm,  Alex Spencer – who some supporters may recognise from performances at Manchester City – will be playing a 30 minute set of all his popular hits. He will be followed by Chaddy and the Backhanders from 2pm.

A fairground – located on the north side on the stadium – will be open from 11am.

There will also be a 100ft inflatable assault course and zorbing arena on the 3g pitch, where prices start from just £4.

Post-match buses will depart from the bus lay by next to the grass pitch.

Tickets for the Armed Forces event are priced at £5 for all.
