Irlam is set to receive a “unique” and “peculiar” bar, subject to a newly submitted planning application.

The plans would see a former beauty lounge and another derelict shop on the corner of Preston Avenue and Liverpool Road converted into the “unique” bar, Sui Generis.

Latin for “of its/their own kind” and “in a class by itself”, the bar is set to feature an outdoor seating area and pool table.

Salfordians on Facebook shared their approval of the plans for the new site, saying the regeneration in the area could make Irlam “the new Monton”.

One commenter, Jo Cutch, said: “this place will be a great asset to the area.”

Another commenter, Amy Parker said: “I need to get out to these places!!!”

For more information on the bar, use the code 23/81641/FUL on Salford City Council’s Planning Application site.
