Memories of growing up in Salford were shared on last night’s episode of I’m a Celeb, with Shaun Ryder and Andy Whyment finding out they attended the same school.
The revelation was broadcast on last night’s (Thursday 27 April) episode of I’m A Celebrity All Stars, with the Salfordians sharing that, unbeknownst to them, they both went to St Mark’s Primary School and Ambrose Barlow High School.
Coronation Street star, Andy Whyment, who was a late edition to this year’s line-up, shared that he grew up in Clifton, which sparked the conversation between the two, whilst stranded in the separated Savannah Scrum camp.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Andy Whyment said: “Mad thing is, we live not far from each other, but the first time we met was in the jungle.”
Following the conversation, 2010 runner-up Ryder, who has become famed for his forgetfulness and loud snoring on the show, accidentally referred to Andy as ‘Kirk’, his character on Coronation Street.
The pair laughed about the mishap, with Whyment saying: “We went to the same primary school, same high school. What a top guy he is, and then he called me Kirk, so I felt like I was back in Weatherfield.”
Ryder also forgot the name of his self-assured “best-mate” in the camp, co-star Phil Tufnell, much to the enjoyment of fellow Savannah Scrum campmate, TV personality, Myleene Klass.

The episode also saw Klass and Whyment battle it out in the challenge “Up To Your Neck”, which saw the pair par-buried in corn, maggots, frogs, and crickets.
Completing this year’s celebrity jungle line-up in the main camp are Nutrionist, Gillian McKeith; TV personality, Carole Vorderman; and athlete, Fatima Whitbread.
I’m A Celebrity All Stars is on ITV1 at 9pm every night. Catch-up with the series so far on ITVX.
