More than 300 staff and students from a Salford college have joined together in a mass litter picking effort, in aid of a national campaign.
Salford City College’s City Skills and Future Skills students came together last week to support the ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ pledge by collecting a “mountain of rubbish” form around the city.
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students and Construction students were joined by staff from Salford McDonalds, who provided refreshments throughout the day.
The ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ scheme works to encourage people from all walks of life to strive to keep their local community tidy, through organised litter picks and education on the dangers rubbish can pose to the environment.
Since the start of this year, the pledge has seen more than 400,000 bags collected across the country.
