Two players from Salford City have been selected for the EFL League Two Team of the Season.

Ibou Touray, 28, and Elliot Watt, 23, were named in the line-up announced at the EFL Awards last night held at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The pair have impressed this season in Salford’s fight for promotion and their efforts clearly have not gone unnoticed.

Touray, Salford’s all time top appearance maker, has appeared in 43 of this seasons 44 league two matches so far managing nine assists on the way.

The Ammies’ captain has led by example for many years now being named in two of the previous three EFL League Two Team of the Seasons and helping the team to 12 clean sheets this campaign.

Meanwhile, Watt has been enjoying a stellar season providing 15 assists, the highest in the professional football pyramid joint only with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

The midfield maestro who joined from Bradford City last year has completed the most passes in the league as well as the most chances, 105, and the highest chances per 90, 2.50.

Northampton Town’s Sam Hoskins picked up League Two player of the season while Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens won League Two manager of the season.

With only two games left to play Salford will be looking to Watt and Touray to help pick up the final six points available in a final scrap for promotion places.

The Ammies currently sit sixth in a heavily congestion top end of the table, level on points with Bradford and Mansfield in seventh and eight respectively.

Salford will need to win both their remaining matches and hope teams around them drop points to stay in the play-off places.

They’ll be hoping an assist or two from their star pair will prove the difference.
