A world champion boxer is opening the UK’s first ’boutique’ gym in Salford, featuring no set class times and one-to-one support for every session.

Co-founded by four-time world champion boxer Danny Green, and tech’s Tim West, UBX (You-Box) opens its doors to the Salford public at the end of this month in MediaCity.

With no set class times, the 3,500 sq ft space will provide 12 coached stations offering full body workouts in less than 45 minutes

UBX will be located within the first floor of MediaCity’s multi-storey, with potential customers given a try-before-you-buy service.

Part of a worldwide franchise, Salford’s site will join UBX’s portfolio of more 90 gyms across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Manchester entrepreneurs Ben Waldron and James Worrall are the local team behind UBX MediaCity. Ben, a former personal trainer and gym manager, and James who previously ran his own leisure management business, first became aware of the successful concept before the pandemic.

Mr Waldron said: “Ben, UBX co Founder and Director said: “There’s nothing like UBX in the UK. There’s no set timetable so it’s 100% flexible but totally results driven through our focus on coaching and support. The workouts are science led and the team are behind you every step of the way to get the results you want.”

UBX MediaCity will be led by general manager Karolina Tarozaite.

Stephen Kirk, Head of Asset Management for MediaCity said: “UBX is a fantastic addition for MediaCity’s ever growing residential and business community which gives them a great health and wellbeing offer right on their doorstep. The fact UBX MediaCity will act as the springboard for this emerging brand in the UK is really exciting.”
