Salford Choral Society is offering free tickets to their upcoming concert to students, carers and community groups.
The upcoming performance on Saturday 25 March, is of the popular classical piece, Brahms Requiem.
Free seats, subject to availability, are available to charity and voluntary groups and carers based in Salford and the surrounding area. Students enrolled at local schools and colleges or at Salford University can also apply.
Salford Choral Music Director Tom Newall said: “Our community ticket scheme was launched in 2022 in response to the cost of living crisis and to help introduce a wider audience to the joy of live classical music.
“It’s been a great success so far, with more than 50 people – including students and carers – enjoying free concerts with us.
“We’re now inviting applications for free tickets for our next concert on 25 March, which will feature a wonderful programme including Brahms’ Requiem – a powerful and beautiful piece.”
Among those to benefit from the scheme were young singers from Salford Cathedral Choir, who attended the choir’s ‘Glorious Baroque’ concert in late 2022.
Alex Patterson, Musical Director at Salford Cathedral, said: “We were delighted to introduce three of our young singers to their first ever classical music concert.
“The concert was a real treat and it was good to hear the children asking probing questions about the music and the usual concert etiquette. They can’t wait for the next one.”
Salford Choral’s performance of Brahms Requiem, plus two supporting pieces, takes place on Saturday 25 March at 7.30pm at the Royal Northern College of Music, Oxford Road, Manchester.
