A man has been rushed to hospital after being rescued from the water at Salford Quays.

Police were called to Salford Quays at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday (7 March) after reports of a concern for welfare of a man.

An ambulance took the man to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Two fire engines, two rescue units and a rescue boat attended the scene to rescue the man.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At approximately 4.45pm on Tuesday 7 March, firefighters were called out to reports of someone in the water near The Quays, Salford.

“Two fire engines from Salford Fire Station, two rescue units from Leigh and a rescue boat from Eccles all quickly attended the scene and rescued a man from the water who is being treated by North West Ambulance Service.”
