To celebrate Ordsall Hall’s 50th year as a working museum, staff at the centre are creating a time capsule which will be opened in another half a century.

The capsule will be filled with everyday items that represent Salford in 2023, before being sealed and buried in the grounds of the hall. It will then be opened in another 50 years time, in 2073, by staff at the centre.

The museum is looking for item ideas that could be put in the capsule, which is due to be buried sometime in 2023.

Throughout the Hall’s 800 year history, it is has been used as a house, working men’s club, a Clergy Training School, and finally a museum.

An Instagram post from Ordsall Hall said: “This year Ordsall Hall is celebrating 50 years of being a museum!

“As part of celebrations we are going to bury a time capsule in the grounds, full of objects and artefacts that reflect Salford in 2023. This will not be opened for another 50 years, until 2073!
