A man has been arrested after a 39-year-old man needed “life-saving” treatment following a stabbing in Salford.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing at Oakhill Court, Mandley Park Avenue, at around 5pm last night (Wednesday 15 February).

A 39-year-old man was treated at the scene for his injuries and taken to hospital where his condition remains stable.

A tweet from Salford GMP announced that a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The man remains in police custody.

A stop and search order still remains in the surrounding area, including Cheetham Hill Road, Bury New Road, Bury Old Road and Upper Park Road. It is due to be reviewed at 5pm today.

Insp Steve Corless, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “I would urge members of the public that saw anything suspicious or witnessed the incident to please come forward and report this information to us immediately.

“Your information no matter how small it may seem could be a huge help in our investigation.”
