A Christmas event in Little Hulton is the latest closure in Salford as a result of this week’s plummeting temperatures.
The ‘Spirit of Little Hulton’ Christmas precinct event planned for today was cancelled by organisers this morning (Thursday 15th December) due to concern over the cold weather.
The event was planned to take place between 3.30-6pm tonight, and feature Santa, Reindeers and community stalls.
The closure comes after RHS Bridgewater had to close their gardens for a second time this week, today, after extreme ice led to concerns for health and safety.
According to the MET Office, temperatures this morning (Thursday 15 December) in Salford measured a staggering -11 degrees, one of the lowest recorded across the city this week.
This week has also seen Salfordians take to Twitter to argue that a lack of gritting on Swinton Greenway left paths ‘unusable’ and amidst the freezing temperatures.
