Mindfulness classes will be starting at The Lowry next March for school groups in Salford.
Jessica Wilkinson, who owns a wellbeing organisation called The-Sea-Within will be leading calming activities at The Lowry in March 2023.
Miss Wilkinson expands: “I used to be a teacher at Knutsford Academy, I found that a lot of my students were struggling with their mental health, and they didn’t know how to deal with it.”
“I go to yoga classes to help me cope with my anxieties, so I decided to start similar sessions for the students at Knutsford Academy to help alleviate their stress, they loved it.
“Gradually, I decided I much preferred teaching young people mindfulness and yoga, rather than trying to get them through their exams and stressing them out even more.”
Jessica left teaching in 2018, retrained as a mindfulness coach and set up her own business called The-Sea-Within the same year.
She says: “I teach people mindfulness, helping my clients to connect with nature, and how the outdoors can improve our wellbeing and happiness. I also use art to help calm people.”
Jessica will be leading mindfulness classes at The Lowry next March for school children in Salford.
She explains: “Next year I’m going to be hosting wellbeing sessions at The Lowry, encouraging young people to engage with their surroundings.
“I want them to connect with L.S. Lowry’s paintings, and nature too. Even though we’re in the city there’s water, never ending skies, and birds.”
