An Orsdall wedding venue is celebrating its first fully booked year since the end of COVID restrictions.
As COVID forced many couples to cancel weddings or reduce guest lists, Ordsall Wedding Venue, located in Ordsall Hall, is now welcoming people back for unrestricted weddings.
The Wedding manager of the venue, Sue Bainbridge, reflected on the past year. She said: “COVID hit us quite hard and we are just coming to the end now of our weddings that have been cancelled and rescheduled.”
Ordsall Wedding Venue is based at Ordsall Hall museum in Salford. It is a smaller wedding reception venue and prior to COVID, was very popular.
According to a survey conducted in April 2020, 82% of weddings that were booked for that month were postponed, and 11% were cancelled in the UK. Some weddings were postponed for more than three years with many deciding not to go through with their wedding at all due to backlogs.
With the new cost of living crisis also taking its toll, many couples have had to reconsider the size of their weddings, despite there no longer being any COVID restrictions. Ms Bainbridge continued: “It’s hard to tell how much the cost of living will affect us just yet, but if you ask me the same question at the end of 2023 it will likely be a different story.”
The venue has now closed for the season and the last wedding took place on the 19 November. The venue will reopen in March 2023 with what is looking like a busy year with bookings already coming through for 2024 and 2025.
“COVID has made people think what kind of wedding they want and who they really want there, and they’re much more conscious about what they are spending their money on and who they are spending it on.” Sue explained.
Ordsall Wedding Venue is taking bookings for 2023 and 2024.
