Eccles is set to receive a £7m investment in digital infrastructure which introduces ‘UK’s fastest, and most reliable broadband technology’ to the town.
‘Freedom Fibre’ broadband will become available to approximately 800 businesses and around 22,000 households in the area, and will provide speeds of up to 900MB/s.
The new network will cover areas ranging from Barton City Airport up to Alder Forest, and Swinton Greenway Park. The expansion will ensure both urban and rural areas can benefit from gigabit-capable broadband.
In preparation for the upcoming build, Freedom Fibre engineers are already on location conducting testing on the current infrastructure, with plans to start building the network in early 2023.
After Eccles was named Rightmove UK’s ‘2020 property hotspot of the year’, Freedom Fibre’s new lightning-fast full-fibre network will bring additional value to the area and support the town’s growth.
