Shoppers are being offered use of six pay-and-display car parks for free on Saturdays throughout December.
The move comes as a “small Christmas ‘gift’” from Salford City Council to help curb the effects of the cost of living crisis during the festive period.
The car parks will be free on Saturday 3 December (which is also Small Business Saturday), Saturday 10 December, Saturday 17 December and Christmas Eve on Saturday 24 December.
Car parks involved are Partington Street (Monton), John William Street (Eccles), St Mary’s Road (Eccles), Irwell Place (Eccles), Hankinson Way, (Salford) and Church Street (Swinton).
Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett said: “I know people are concerned about all aspects of the cost of living at the moment and we have details of a lot of local support on our cost of living pages.
“I hope this small Christmas ‘gift’ helps and encourages people to shop locally and support our fantastic Salford businesses.”
Notices will be posted on site at these car parks. All other conditions for using the car park, such as parking within properly marked bays and displaying a Blue Badge if you have one, still apply.
