Swinton Lionesses will hold open trials at the AJ Bell Stadium for the upcoming 2023 season.
The trials will run on November 30th and December 7th from 19:00 to 20:00 and are open to those aged over 16.
Head Coach Martina Greenwood said: “We’re looking for new players as we’re going into the Championship, so it’s a chance to develop the team further. All skill levels are welcome.
“We are keeping it open as I am not one for stopping anyone from playing rugby.”
After a successful debut season in the Women’s league One, Swinton Lionesses are now holding two Pre-season open trials for any players wishing to join the Lionesses for the 2023 season.

The intention to form the team was announced in March 2020, and they completed their inaugural campaign in the merit league last year. The Lionesses played in League One of the Women’s RFL in 2022 and will be in the Championship next season.
Looking towards the side’s ambitions for the 2023 campaign, the head coach said: “It’s just a case of staying in a competitive environment and continuing to play competitive games.”
Greenwood also stated that she hopes to see the team and sport increase in popularity as they continue to compete: “The more we play, the more exposure we will gain. There’s plenty of coverage in terms of us putting it out across the different women’s and girl’s Rugby League pages.
“I think the exposure for women’s rugby is not great to begin with if I’m being honest, but it is improving.”
