Nestled into a corner of Trafalgar Business Park in Salford, this black and orange double decker bus is one of the few places where you can satisfy your urges for both good fish and chips and public transport memorabilia.
“We are the only one with this menu”, Owner Kashif Shezaid said. “It’s not just English fish and chips, I’m from Holland so the batter for the fish is totally different. We got very special Cod Bites with chips.”
The classic double decker bus, an ex-Nottingham City Transport model was acquired by Mr Shezaid and converted into a restaurant by an external agency.
The outside of the bus was painted black, the lower deck was outfitted with a fully stainless-steel kitchen, and the upper deck was configured with tables and thick orange repurposed bus seats.
Shezaid said: “We started with a little catering food van, and after that people asked for where they can eat, where they can sit, normally they sit in the car and eat.
“I was thinking, ‘why not we launch a double decker bus, people can sit upstairs, and we got a kitchen downstairs.’”
The kitchen doesn’t just serve fish and chips, but other seafood favourites such as Crispy Prawns, Squid Rings and Calamari. Chicken nuggets, wings, strips, you name it they have it. Vegetarian options are available as well.
Mr Shezaid followed: “We cook on the order, even if it’s one customer, even if it’s 100 customers, we never warm up the food.”
Three women, who declined to be interviewed, said that they had travelled all the way from Liverpool just for the food.
The Dutch Fishmen Bus is located at Unit 7, Trafalgar Business Park, Broughton Ln, Salford, Manchester M8 9TZ and they have branches at Bolton, Chorlton and more.
