Salford Officials are urging residents to remain safe during the bonfire season amidst years of reckless behaviour.
The advice comes after reports show that between 2020 and 2021, 116 individuals were hospitalized due to injuries related to fireworks. Of those, 21 of them were aged 14 and under.
Julie Blagden, a Senior Manager for Pendleton Operations at Pendleton Together said: “Fireworks and bonfires are fantastic fun and we want all of our residents to be able to enjoy this traditional autumn festival.
“However, people making their own arrangements can distress pets and also make others nervous.”
In accordance with the ‘Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue’ website ‘bonfires should be lit 18 metres away from buildings, trees, fences, overhead cables and car parks’

Julie Blagden followed: “Sadly there are also examples where people and communities are put at serious risk, particularly if people use their balconies for fire related activities, if fireworks are used near the high-rise blocks or open fires are set in gardens.
“Unfortunately, a few people do use bonfire night as an excuse to behave dangerously or recklessly.”
