The Salford University rugby lads have shaved their facial hair off to raise awareness for men’s physical and mental health over the month of November.
Movember is the moustache-growing charity event that raises funds and awareness for men’s health issues, including testicular cancer, prostate cancer and men’s mental health
The most recent figures from 2018-2020 show that 11.9 men per 100,000 in Salford lose their life to suicide, which is slightly higher than the national average.
Joshua Guy is one of the rugby players taking on the challenge, Joshua said: “Movember is rally important as it raises awareness for men’s health, all of us lads are passionate about it and at the end of the day we want to raise as much awareness and money as possible for charity.
“The rugby union team is one of the biggest on campus and we all like to take part in Movember every year, everybody gets involved and it’s always funny to look at the start and end photos every year.
“It’s not only physical health that Movember is for, but also mental health and suicide amongst men that we want to raise awareness for.”
