Man charged with rape in connection with incident in Salford on Sunday

A man has been charged with rape following an incident in Salford on Sunday.

John Hawkins, 25, of Manchester Road, Westhoughton, has been charged with one count of rape, say Greater Manchester Police.

Hawkins will appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 1 November)

The charge comes after police were called to near Regent Retail Park, Salford at 07:44 on Sunday morning (30th October) over a report of a rape of a woman in her 20s.

The victim is currently being supported by specially trained officers.
