Salford stars Marc Sneyd, Andy Ackers, Kallum Watkins and Morgan Escare all featured in England’s 42-18 win over France.

After only previously appearing in a pre-tournament friendly v Fiji, Ackers and Sneyd made their official competitive debuts and their RLWC debuts after Watkins had featured, and scored, last week vs Samoa.

The halfback, Sneyd, was the most prolific of the trio, finishing the game perfect off the kicking tee with seven goals for seven attempts and 14 total points.

Ackers posted an impressive cameo off the bench and looked dangerous in attack when he was on the pitch, even getting a try assist with a silky grubber from dummy half for Victor Radley’s try.

Unfortunately, Watkins was forced from the field with a concussion and will miss England’s next game vs Greece due to head injury return to play protocols. However, he should return for England’s knockout fixtures. On the other side, Salford fullback Morgan Escare was on the losing French side.

Elsewhere in the World Cup, Rhys Williams started in Wales’ 12-18 loss the Cook Islands, King Vuniyayawa featured in Fiji’s 60-4 win over Italy and Tim Lafai was a late callup to Samoa’s squad and scored two tries in their 72-4 win over Greece.

Ackers and Sneyd will be hoping to again feature for England in their game vs Greece next Saturday.
