Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Novel, The Color Purple, will be coming to The Lowry stage next week.
The novel has been adapted for stage by Pulitzer Prize and Tony award-winner, Marsha Norman, along with Allee Willis, Brenda Russell and Stephen Bray.

It tells the compelling and thrilling story of the racism, sexism and abuse faced by heroine Celie, as she searches for her long-lost sister, Nettie.
Following Celie on her journey to self-love, the story of her sister Nettie and friends, Shug Avery and Sofia, will also be explored.

Using their inspiration from jazz, ragtime gospel and blues, Grammy award-winners Russell and Willis and Bray, show that the musical is a celebration of love and life.
There will be accessible performances throughout the week, which includes a captioned and signed performance.
The Colour Purple will run from October 11th- 15th. More information on the musical can be found here
