Going in at the break, both teams were level at 6-6, with Swinton scoring a converted try and Doncaster scoring from a penalty and a non-converted try. The second-half started the same way as the first, with Doncaster scoring early to make it 10-6, putting them on the verge of Championship rugby.
The Lions only managed to change the game with 14 minutes to go as Cox scored a try which was then converted putting Swinton up 12-10, and were leading going into the final ten minutes. With Doncaster pushing in the closing minutes, Hansen, scored a last minute try to send Swinton 16-10 up and promoting them to the Betfred Championship.
The final result was a perfect tribute to former Swinton Lions player and legend, Dave Robinson, 78, who passed away late last week.
