Every Tuesday, The FoodCycle at Langworthy Cornerstone in Salford delivers 3 course meal to their local community.
FoodCycle is an award-winning national charity that tackles food poverty and social isolation whilst reducing food waste and strengthening local communities.
Each week, the FoodCycle volunteer teams across Greater Manchester reclaim surplus food from local shops and supermarkets that otherwise would have been thrown away. Instead they use it to cook nutritious, three-course, takeaway meals for anybody in the community to enjoy.
Verity Smith, Host Lead for FoodCycle at Langworthy Cornerstone said: “when I was at uni, I used to volunteer and I worked for a homeless shelter where used to serve food, but you kind of needed proof that you were homeless and that you need the food.
“I really like the premise of food cycle that you don’t have to prove anything and you can just turn up.”
Salford’s FoodCycle is open every Tuesday 6-7pm at Langworthy Cornerstone. However, these times may differ week by week so please check their Facebook page for updates: FaceBook Page

Samantha Kearney a volunteer for FoodCycle said: “We’re doing safety with Ciata, so corporate social responsibility with work, so we were looking for something local that we could come and do to give back to our local community, were really keen to work with the homeless and this came up so we just thought we would do it.”
