Salford is hosting a wide range of sporting events to help people keep active throughout half term.
With the ‘new year new me’ feeling starting to slowly lose momentum across the city, its time to get back on track and this half term is a perfect chance for the whole family to get active and have some fun while doing it.
The first on our list is for the young Salfordians and there are a number of fantastic sporting activities across the city for all ages.
The Oasis Academy and The Lowry Academy are both hosting a range of fun activities including multisports, dance and swimming, being put on by SAYO/SPARKY
The event is running from Monday the 21st to Thursday the 24th, with the days running from 10am till 3pm.

The next on our list is a football school, called Soccer Stars, which is for boys and girls of ages between 5 and 11.
The program is for those youngsters who want to learn to play football and learn basic skills in the game, in a fun environment.
The sessions are run by qualified FA coaches and take place on:
Thursdays, 4:30-5:15pm – Swinton & Pendlebury Leisure Centre
Friday, 5-5:45pm – Salford’s Sports Village
With your kids being off at football, dance or another sporting activity you will have time for your own physical health this half term.
Salford Community Leisure Centre are currently offering from Valentines Day until the 28th of February, bring a friend for free!
If you know someone who has let them self go over Valentines weekend, then why not invite them for a few workouts over half term to get each other back in the swing of getting a good sweat on!
If ‘gym-ing’ is not your thing then why not try out walking football, with Salford’s Sports Village offering a wide range of sessions for different age ranges:
Mondays, 11am-12pm, over 60s
Tuesdays, 7pm-9pm, over 50s
Wednesdays, 11am-12pm, over 60s
Fridays, 11am-12pm, over 60s
a session costs £3 with the exception of the Tuesday evening session costing £5.
There are also activities that the whole family can enjoy together! The Helly Hansen Watersports Centre are offering the chance to hire paddleboards or kayaks to use in the Quays.
The sessions run most Saturdays and Sundays. You get 1 hour for your session and a quick safety briefing is given to all participants before beginning the session. Ages 8-11 must be on the water with an adult or guardian.
They recommend on their website to bring the following with you:
Clothing that’s okay to get wet.
Close toe shoes (not flipflops).
Towel.
Swim wear (if you have hired a wetsuit)
The prices vary as following:
£10 per adult (per hour slot).
£6 per child (per hour slot).
£4 for wetsuit hire (optional).
