Salford City will be looking to continue their drive towards the promotion spots tonight when they take on relegation threatened, Carlisle United.

The transfer deadline last night wrapped up a successful window for The Ammies, including the acquisition of Manchester City’s, Luke Bolton.

Sadly, they will be without their new exciting player tonight, so fans will be left waiting to get a glimpse of him in action.

The wide player, who can be utilized as a full back wont be available for tonight’s game but is a major coup for Salford, fighting off Championship teams such as Barnsley FC for his signature.

Bolton arrives at the Peninsula Stadium after 11 years at City, but now is focused on becoming an important player for the team. He said on the clubs official website: “I want to try and help Salford get to the Championship hopefully, obviously we need to get out of League Two first but I’m an ambitious man, I like to think I’ll only keep getting better so hopefully as I keep getting better Salford will as well. I can’t wait to get going and let’s get in the play-off spots!”.

The Ammies will be looking to improve on their last outing where they lost away from home to Northampton Town, and newly recruited forward, Matt Smith will be looking to get his first goal for his new club.

Currently sitting in 10th, Salford are arguably the favorites in this tie and will be looking to get a win in their quest for promotion, which is a realistic goal for the second half of the season, with the reds placed only five points away from the promotion spots.

Salford City will be without, Matty Willock, Josh Morris, Luke Burgess and Ian Henderson, all due to injury and Ibou Touray is expected to be available and possibly return to the team, after his nation, Gambia exited the African Cup of Nations.

The visitors from Cumbria will be looking to put things right after two consecutive league defeats, sitting dangerously only one point above the drop zone.

However Carlisle had a surge of hope last night, with the club bringing in four players in the last hour of transfer deadline day.

One of their most recent signings, Dynel Simeu, on loan from Southampton, will be set to start his second game for United who had an impressive debut.
