“It’s a safe place to come and people need to feel comfortable and relaxed” – Let’s Paint Together re-opens in Swinton

Let’s Paint Together has re-opened face-to-face classes at Worlsey Road Social Club after a move online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking a more relaxed approach to the traditional painting classes, Let’s Paint Together aims to bring a sense of fun and friendship to their workshops.

Speaking of the re-opening, organiser Penny Hicks said: “We do really easy step by step guides, and my aim is always for someone to go home with a picture they’re really proud of.

“It’s relaxed, it’s not a formal lesion. People chat and you know, make friends really.

“It’s been online and now it’s just coming back face to face and this is a new venue in Salford for the community in Salford.”

Let’s Paint Together initially launched four years ago at Bury Libraries with a mission statement of combatting loneliness within the local community.

Penny continued: “It’s a safe place to come and people need to feel comfortable and relaxed.

“There’s no competition going on about who’s done the best painting and we all help each other.”

Let’s Paint Together has made a positive impact for the people of Swinton, with class member Janice saying: “It’s a fantastic way to relax, forget about things and, just generally, chill.

“It makes you feel that you’ve achieved something, Even the most ham-fisted person can make the most epic painting.”
