The news came as a shock to the rugby league world, it was even a whirlwind week for Sneyd himself.
He said: βItβs been a manic week to be honest, it all came about last week when I was on holiday. Then from Monday to Thursday it was 100mph until done, Iβm absolutely chuffed to bits with it.β
Since leaving the Red Devils, Sneyd has enjoyed success at Hull FC winning back to back Challenge cups in 2016 and 2017, as well as being awarded the Lance Todd trophy for man of the match in both of those games.
Originally from Oldham, Sneyd spoke about his excitement to move back home.
βHull were incredible, understanding my reasons wanting to move back to Oldham and moving back to family. Iβve put my name back on my Manchester United season ticket as well!β
Sneyd was annouced on the same day Salford introduced their new head coach Paul Rowley. With Lee Mossop retiring Rowley stated Sneyd is a candidate for the captaincy going forward.
Rowley said: “I expect him to have a big influence on the group, he fits the bill and can be a real leader.”
Winners of today? Salford. Landed a top player in a position they desperately needed to. No transfer fee despite no domestic halves being available and keeps a quota spot free at a time when very few clubs have them, leaving them in a very strong position in the overseas market.

Salford have made a number of exciting signings for the 2022 season, With exciting Australian halfback Brodie Croft coming over from the NRL.
Salford fans will be hoping he forms a solid partnership with Sneyd and help the Red Devils get back to the form they showed in 2019 under Ian Watson.
