A last minute own goal saw Salford drop three points at home to Exeter City, leaving the Ammies 19th in the table with just one win in their last five league games.
Salford City goalkeeper Connor Ripley scored a freak own goal in injury time to gift the Grecians the win, after Tom Elliott cancelled out Matt Jay’s opener.
The sun was shining at the Peninsula Stadium on Saturday, as The Ammies took on Exeter City in Sky Bet League Two.
Gary Bowyer’s side went into the game as the initial underdogs hoping to clinch a win from their opponents who sat 13 places above them. Bowyer made two changes to the side following defeat against Forest Green Rovers last weekend, with Jason Lowe and Josh Morris making their return to the starting line up.
Both teams had chances to score but failed to deliver in the opening stages of the first half.
Salford’s best chance of the half saw Morris blast the ball over the bar and Brandon Thomas-Asante denied after rounding the goalkeeper Cameron Dawson.

Throughout the second half, both teams showed ruthless defending but the Ammies lacked in pass control allowing the game to open up for the travelling side.
Exeter found an opening 53 minutes into the game as Jay tapped in to score for the fifth-successive game, after an initial fine stop from Ripley. Moments later it was almost 2-0 as Jevani Brown’s diverted effort fired off the post.
Salford tried hard to find a way back into the game, with the crowd roaring to get that all important equaliser. With 11 minutes left of play, Salford were rewarded for their efforts when Elliot looped in a header from Liam Shephard’s cross to bring the game level.
However, the drama came in injury time as Ripley denied substitute Padraig Amond one on one, before the rebound fell to Caprice whose effort cannoned off the far post and back off Ripley into the back of the net.
The 482 Exeter fans went crazy as the referee blew the whistle to signal full time, while The Ammies were left disappointed as they dropped yet another three points.
