Rachael from Langworthy Reds is helping to provide this opportunity for young girls along with people from Folly Lane and the Cadishead Rhinos. They feel that the sport has been neglected and ignored for girls in the area.
The chance for girls rugby in the Salford area is next to non-existent once they stop playing in mixed teams at 11″. This spurred on the team, who are all passionate about rugby, to do something to bring about change.
Many girls have been left with no other option than to travel well outside of the Salford area to be able to continue playing or if they wished to get serious about the sport.
As a result of these issues, after much discussion the three local rugby teams in the area decided to come together with a vision and high hopes of amending these local shortcomings, so that young hopefuls and those that enjoy playing could be provided with better, more workable opportunities closer to them.
The teams were able to put aside their old rivalries to come together over a common cause.
The coaches and representatives of each club will be working closely together to give tryouts and to give members a chance to play and get to grips with the sport, hone their skills, have fun, and forge friendships between them so they can compete as a team.
