Swinton’s Co-Op academy have today announced a teachers strike, commencing Tuesday 19th October and set to last for three days.
This strike comes after a dispute between teachers and the academies governors and has been developed in partnership with the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT).
Speaking of the strike, CEO of Co-Op academies Chris Tomlinson said: “Co-op Academy Swinton is a good school with staff who are committed to delivering a very positive learning environment for students.
“It’s disappointing for staff, parents and pupils that strike action continues, and we are working hard to resolve the issues.
“We believe that with the support of the NASUWT, we are making progress and look forward to a resolution.”
Swinton Academy have put measures in-place to ensure that students don’t miss out lessons, with these being time-tabled for later in the year or taking place on Google Classroom.
Dr Thomlison concluded his statement by saying: “Parents, pupils and teachers want to see continuous improvement at Co-op Academy Swinton.
“The recent changes are part of a wider plan to achieve an Outstanding Ofsted rating where every student is supported to achieve their full potential. I am sure that we can come together to achieve this goal.”
