Requirements to receive the vaccination are: patients must be 40 or older, and registered with a GP in Salford. Eligible patients must also be living or working in the Salford area.
A prior appointment is not required, and patients can simply walk into the Little Hulton Health Centre, M28 0BB in Salford.
GP Kanwal Rafiq said: “The whole population will need to be vaccinated at one stage, but we started off with the elderly because they are the most vulnerable group.”
The walk-in clinic only offers the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. However, after the first vaccination patients will be contacted by phone call or will be sent a letter with information regarding their second dose appointment.
By getting vaccinated citizens are able to protect themselves from the virus and reduce the transmission of the coronavirus to others.
The vaccination significantly decreases the chances of you catching the virus. The Oxford vaccine offers protection of 64% after the first dose and 70% after the full two doses have been received.
