The Centre Manager of Swinton Square, Chris Doidge, has revealed his relief and excitement at the shopping centre fully opening up again this week.
Non-essential retail has been allowed to reopen following the latest lifting of coronavirus restrictions in England, meaning many of the shops in the centre have been allowed to reopen again.
This includes shops such as Card Factory, Bridgford estate agents and The Salvation Army, which opened up again for the first time since December.
These join essential shops at the centre which have been open throughout the year.
Doidge commented: “It has been great to see shoppers returning to Swinton Square as the majority of our retailers have reopened safely on Monday.
“We have seen nearly double the footfall to the previous week as retail opens to the general public for the first time in many months.
Doige has reiterated that the centre is doing all it can to keep adhering to the government guidelines.
He stressed: “We still have all social distancing measures in place to make sure Swinton Square is clean and safe for the whole community. I look forward to seeing the community back and supporting our retailers over the coming weeks.”
Thankfully, despite the lockdown, shoppers have continued to visit the centre in good numbers as Doidge explained.
He said: “The Centre has maintained a core visitor base with almost 50% of retailers classed as essential retailers, open during lockdown.
“Shoppers have been staying local for the convenience of car parking, familiarity of our retailers and our wide open air malls.”
The centre, which has been open for over 45 years, is a key destination for shoppers in the Swinton area, with a wide range of independent retailers as well as traditional high street names such as Boots, Greggs and Costa.

Each individual store will have its own opening times, with shoppers advised to view the Swinton Square website, or social media channels, for individual store information.
