This evening Salford CVS are hosting a ‘Stronger Together’ event as part of International Women’s Day, hoping to inspire and connect women from across Salford.
The two-hour event, which is in partnership with Salford Council and Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, will include a mix of inspiring speakers, entertainment, workshops and a children’s art competition.
Starting at 6pm, the free online workshops cover a range of topics and participants have the choice to attend 2 of the 4 available sessions.
Anne-Marie Marshall, the Services Manager at Salford CVS, said: “Working in the voluntary, charity and community sector we see on a daily basis the hard work women put in to make a difference to the lives of others – their family, their friends and their local community. Particularly over the past 12 months, where women have taken on additional mental and emotional load due to the pandemic. This has not been helped by lockdown, which has isolated many women from their support networks.
“So this year it was really important for us to organise this International Women’s Day event to remind women they are not alone and there is a support network out there for them. Tonight is an opportunity for women to take a break, get inspired and connect with other women in Salford.”
In one session, Queen Bee Coaching will be holding a workshop about the work they do, providing leadership coaching for women across Greater Manchester.
The coaching service is part of the Pankhurst Trust, and their free sessions aim to empower and inspire women to take the next step in their careers.
We are so excited to be part of this event this evening!

Recreate-U, a Community Interest Company created by primary school teachers to help children, families and communities learn and grow, will also be hosting a workshop on returning to school.
In their session, experienced primary school teachers will share advice on how families can support their children in their return to school, and give parents who’s children are shielding tips on how to get them learning whilst making home schooling fun.
Explaining why they are involved in the event, Claire Benson, CEO of Recreate-U said: “We wanted to support our community of women in Salford and Greater Manchester. We are a female run business and thought that connecting with other women would be beneficial for us all.
“We know women, along with men and children, have found 2020 and 2021 a challenge, therefore, we wanted to provide the opportunity for women to learn, grow, connect and relax.
“We are sharing a Recreate-U PowerPoint with great advice and support for mums on looking after their child’s mental health and their own and we will be answering questions.
“Through our research and support of families we work with, we know that many families have found the responsibility and demands of home schooling a challenge. The return to school is also a worry for many, especially those who’s children have underlying health conditions.”
There will also be a workshop on Social Enterprises, with social entrepreneurs from It’s Her Story and Women with Wings teaching women how to run their own businesses whilst doing good at the same time.
To mark International Women’s Day, Women with Wings, a group which celebrates it’s 4th anniversary today as well, also held a public discussion about domestic violence against BAME women earlier this morning.
The fourth workshop involves a discussion about how participants have survived the previous lockdown, as well as sharing any ideas on how to survive 2021 too.
On top of these sessions, the ‘Stronger Together’ event also includes an art competition for children in Salford.
Tasked with drawing a picture of the strongest women they know, winners will each receive a prize of £30 Love2Shop vouchers, whilst the women featured in the winning pictures will win a zero-waste hamper from the Dispensary in Walkden, worth £50.
