Pupils at Manchester Grammar School have written Christmas letters and poems to be shared amongst older adults supported by Age UK Salford.

Home Services Coordinator, Shirley Cunningham, and the Home Service Assistants at Age UK helped to distribute the kind messages following strict Covid-19 Government Guidelines.

The letters discussed pupils’ interests and how the school has been impacted by the pandemic.

Sue Fletcher, Assistant Chief Executive Age UK Salford said: “This year has been tough for many of our clients who have been shielding and live alone.

“The clients with whom we have shared these letters are overjoyed and touched by this thoughtful gesture.”

She said recipients are keen to keep in touch and reply.

Vivienne Horsfield, Assistant Head at Manchester Grammar School said: “At MGS, we always encourage our boys to think about others, to help people in their communities and to give something back to those in need.

“As we all know, the pandemic has had a huge impact on older people in terms of isolation and loneliness, and with Christmas on the horizon, we wanted our boys to reach out and play their part in letting them know they are very much in our thoughts.”

We are delighted to be able to share these wonderful Christmas letters with local older people received at our office…
