Sale Sharks have announced that director of Rugby Steve Diamond has left the club after ten years with immediate effect due to personal reasons.
In a statement, the club has thanked Steve for his services and commitment to the club over the years and have announced that Paul Deacon will take over head coach responsibilities while the club stocks and starts planning for the future.
Speaking after the announcement Diamond said “After ten proud years with Sale Sharks I have taken the decision to step away from the business. I feel this is a perfect moment to hand over to someone else given the club is now stable and is in a greater position to compete at the highest level.”

Steve Diamond leaves Sale Sharks sitting fourth in the Gallagher Premiership.
Diamond first joined the Sharks in 2001 before leaving in 2002 to become England Saxton’s coach. He returned to Sale Sharks in January of 2011 as Director of Sport.
