Salford’s Santa is a charity organisation created by 17-year-old Courtney Reed with the help of her family, looking to help the less fortunate this festive season.
2020 has been an extremely difficult time for us all, due to the global Covid-19 pandemic which has meant an unfortunate amount of loss of jobs and an overall increase in poverty up and down the country.
Therefore, Reed and her family decided to collect gifts in time for Christmas, to help the children who need them most in care homes and refuges across the Salford area.
Reed explains: “I was in a refuge when I was younger, and we got a lot of presents donated to us at Christmas time. I just want to help give back because people helped me and my family out.”
The Facebook page has accumulated over 200 followers so far. As well as this, Courtney and her family have seen an outstanding response from the general public: with a large amount of presents having been donated, including items such as colouring books, pencils, teddies and more.
This year has been tough for everyone. Reed expresses: “We just wanna make sure that everyone gets something, especially when times are hard like they are now.”
