Homelessness charity Emmaus Salford is appealing for food and festive items to fill 200 Christmas hampers for local families and households in need.
The charity runs Lucie’s Pantry, a social supermarket providing food and household essentials to members of the Salford community struggling to make ends meet through debt, illness or low income.
Can you help us make Christmas that bit more special for our Lucie’s Pantry members?

Rachel Richardson, Community Director at Emmaus Salford, said: “Last year we prepared Christmas hampers for our Lucie’s Pantry members and these were really well received. We want to do the same this year and make Christmas that bit special for people who’ve had a tough year.
“Our Lucie’s Pantry membership has increased throughout 2020 and we now have 200 people who are supported by our social supermarket. Any Christmas hamper donations you can spare would be gratefully received. Just one or two extras in your own weekly shopping will make a huge difference to our appeal!”
Emmaus Salford supports vulnerable people by providing them with a stable home, meaningful work and individual support.
Meanwhile, Lucie’s Pantry is run by formerly homeless people supported by the group, as well as alongside local volunteers.
The team are in the process of preparing 200 Christmas hampers, one for each of their pantry members, and are appealing for donations of non-perishable food and goods which will make Christmas that bit more special for their members.
Donations could include Christmas puddings, festive chocolates, biscuits, Christmas crackers, sweets, nice soap or anything above and beyond what is usually offered from the pantry.
You can drop-off donations to the Lucie’s Pantry hamper appeal at Emmaus Salford’s Community Homestore, between the hours of 10am and 4pm, Monday to Saturday. Hamper donations are needed before Saturday 12 December.
