With the current circumstances of Covid-19, many of the yearly Christmas traditions will be cancelled or done in a different way this year.

Due to the social distancing measures, trips to visit Santa won’t be able to go ahead this year but a local charity has come up with a magical solution to help get children more excited and ready for Christmas Eve.

St Ann’s Hospice is offering supporters the chance to request a personalised letter from Santa, which will be posted directly to children in December.

To apply, all people have to do is visit the hospice’s websiteΒ and complete a simple form with a few details about the child who will be receiving the letter, whilst making a donation of Β£5 to the charity.

The letter can be purchased up until the 16th of December.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, said: “Every year we have hundreds of families who visit our Christmas Fair, and many of them love the chance to meet Santa Claus.”

During the pandemic, it has been challenging for St Ann’s hospice as many of the fundraising activities and events like the Christmas Fair have been cancelled. Not only will the letter bring a smile to lots of faces this December, but will also help raise much-needed funds too.

“We’re hoping that by giving families the chance to arrange a special, personalised letter from Santa, we’ll be adding a bit of extra Christmas magic at the end of a difficult year.”
