Paul Scholes is hoping to bow out of his role as interim boss of Salford City with a win against the league’s leading scorers.
The Ammies will travel to Abbey Stadium on Tuesday evening hoping to extend their run of three games unbeaten in SkyBet League Two.
However, the focal point is that of the expected arrival of former Salford midfielder and current Swindon Town boss Richie Wellens.

Wellens has reportedly agreed to a deal to take over the helm at the Peninsula Stadium, leaving his current employers of nearly two years.
Scholes will remain in charge for tonight’s fixture.
The last time the two sides met, Salford came out victorious with a 4-0 thrashing of the eastern outfit, with goals scored by Adam Rooney (2), Ashley Hunter, and Ibou Touray back in January.
Now, Cambridge is sat in second place with a superior goal difference to anyone else in SkyBet League Two, however, threw away a 1-0 lead at the weekend to Crawley Town to lose 2-1.
This comes after the U’s were unbeaten in their previous five games in the league, and will be looking to bounce back after their narrow defeat.
Salford will want to build on their run of good form including a 2-0 derby win to Oldham Athletic at the weekend, where goals from the in-form James Wilson and Hunter earned the Ammies all three points and left them just outside of the play-off positions by one point.
Wilson will be hoping to continue his prolific goal-scoring form which has seen him score in each of Salford’s last three games.
There are no new injury concerns for Paul Scholes’ men.
Cambridge United vs Salford City kicks off at 19:00 at Abbey Stadium, this evening.
