Seven Bro7hers are playing their part in ending child food poverty following recent government announcements regarding school meals.
The Salford-based brewery are teaming up with Sis4ers Distillery offering free takeaway packed lunches this half term to children in need.
The takeaway lunches will be available for collection Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm.
All Seven Bro7hers free meals and packed lunches will be collected from the Seven Bro7hers Beerhouse in Middlewood Locks, Salford.
On their facebook page Seven Bro7hers Beerhouse wrote: “We are deeply saddened by the recent announcements regarding free school meals.
“From our family to yours this Half term we have teamed up with our sisters at Sis4ers Distillery and are offering free takeaway packed lunches for children who need them.”
Kirstie McAvoy, wife of CEO Keith McAvoy said: “we were all really touched by Marcus Rashford’s movement and after the government’s stopping of school meals for children in our community.
“We just felt like we wanted to join forces with our sisters at Sis4ers Distillery and do what we can by offering anyone who’s child in need of a pack lunch that we can provide it for them.”
The breweries have worked together in the past offering a drive-thru bar in March to help the community through lockdown.
Seven Bro7hers have also previously raised £10,000 for cancer charity, The Tim Bacon Foundation.
Alison Watson, head of Marketing at Seven Bro7hers explained that giving back to the community is integral to the brewery saying: “We’ve always been driven by the community.
“We’re a large family anyway we’re used to feeding a lot of people, we know how tough it is to bring up a family especially in these hard times now it’s just so difficult to make sure you’ve got a fresh meal every day.
“If we can help elevate some of that stress and anxiety, we’re more than happy to do it.”
Comments online have showed how thankful people are for what the brewery is doing with users saying “Brilliant, Well done McAvoy family” and “amazing gesture.”
Speaking on the public reaction Alison Watson said: “The reaction has been crazy. We’ve already had a primary school in Salford asking for us to provide meals for the next week because there’s so many families in need.”
It’s safe to say we’re all saying ‘cheers’ to the breweries for what they’re doing to help the people of Salford.
