Badly Drawn Pawtraits

RSPCA Manchester and Salford fundraiser, Badly Drawn Pawtraits, has raised more than £3,000 for the animal centre.

The fundraiser has been running for the past month and has seen many people from around Salford and Manchester being artistic and drawing their own pets.

The charity has exceeded its target of £3000 which was much needed as its charity stores which generate most of its income had to close during lockdown. Donations to the charity had also fallen due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Susie Hughes, RSPCA Manchester and Salford branch manager, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have reached and exceeded our target!

“We have had an absolute blast doing this fundraiser.

“Thank you to everyone who supported us and commissioned a Badly Drawn Pawtrait.”

Through the money raised, the charity has been able to purchase a kitten incubator to help orphaned kittens as well as other much needed equipment such as a snake camera to help find animals in tight spaces.

RSPCA Manchester and Salford has also  commissioned its own tea towel which includes some drawings from the fundraiser which can be purchased to help raise more money for the centre.

Covid-19 has led many charities to worry about the future and ability to offer services. Recent research by Pro Bono Economics suggests 94 per cent of charities are worried about the impact of the recession and 52 per cent have seen public donations fall as a result of the pandemic.
