Lee Mossop and Mark Flanagan, the co-captains of Salford Red Devils, have been given the go-ahead to play in this weekend’s Coral Challenge Cup.
The pair both tested negative in their most recent Coronavirus tests and preparations are now in full swing for the game against Leeds.
This is already a big confidence boost ahead of the game for the Red Devils as two unnamed players were self-isolating due to contracting the virus on Tuesday and are out of the Cup final, with two further players having to stand down against Hull KR midweek after tests for covid came back inconclusive.
The two players who received inconclusive tests are now free to play.
In a statement, the Red Devils said: “After receiving inconclusive Covid-19 test results earlier this week, Salford Red Devils are pleased to confirm that both players’ retests have returned negative. This means that both players will now be able to return to training”.
This is the first trip to Wembley for Salford in 51 years and boss Ian Watson stressed the point that the team knows the Red Devil army are right behind them at home:
“We’re all behind the supporters and we just want to make sure that we’re successful”.
