With trick or treating banned due to COVID-19 restrictions, a mum of two from Broughton has created a treasure hunt for the half-term festivities.
Keri Muldoon, 46, set up a online group encouraging locals to paint rocks with a Halloween theme and place them around Salford parks for others to find and keep.
Ms. Muldoon said: “Kids can’t go trick or treating so I was thinking what they could do for Halloween.
“We have to try and make the most of it.”
Halloween Rocks will start Saturday 24th October for children to take part in and enjoy during the half-term break.
The children will receive activity packs that include rocks, paints, brushes, sponges and varnish.
“Its just about trying to pick people’s feelings up and give them something to do; something to look forward to.
“It’s hard to get that pick up. I just want to spread that bit of happiness.
“If kids are happy, it shows in the adults.”
People on Facebook are excited to get involved ahead of the Halloween weekend.
Julie Boardman commented: “Great idea!!!”
Kirsty Alice Bamping added: “I would love to do this and definitely get a few of my kids together to paint some.”
Salix Homes have funded the idea through their Springboard fund scheme.
They said: “We’re glad to be able to support Halloween Rocks as it will allow local children to enjoy the Halloween weekend in a covid-secure way.
“The springboard fund is designed to help strengthen the sense of community in Salford, which this fun activity is aiming to do.”
