Salford City Football Club have parted ways with their manager Graham Alexander this afternoon and have replaced him, with former Manchester United player Paul Scholes being appointed caretaker manager.
In a statement released by Salford City, the club announced the 49-year-old was leaving his role as manager: “Salford City Football Club announces that manager Graham Alexander has left the club with immediate effect. The club met with Graham this morning and after discussion have agreed to part company.” First team coach, Chris Lucketti, will also leave the club along with Alexander.
Salford City ended their statement announcing the arrival of Scholes to be Alexander’s replacement for the time being.

During his spell as manager, Alexander saw Salford surge into the football league, including promotion to League Two during the 2018-19 season.
Alexander’s departure has come as a surprise to many, as the Ammies currently sit 5th in the League Two table after 2 wins, 3 draws, and 0 losses so far this campaign.
Scholes has previous managerial experience in League 2, where he lasted only 31 days as the boss at Oldham Athletic: Scholes tenure saw Oldham secure only 1 win during his 7 games in charge.
