A man from Salford is attempting to complete the marathon mission of a 10 kilometer daily run October throughout October, to raise money for Salford Life Centre.
Andrew Lane from Langworthy has embarked on the mission in an attempt to raise money for the Christian charity in the centre of Salford, who work in partnership with local people to provide advice, care, training and activities for young people across the city.
Lane, who is a youth worker at the Life Centre, is trying to raise enough funds for the organistation to be able to get a new youth worker so they can help more young people in Salford.
Currently on day six of the challenge, Andrew is attempting to run 31 times in total, meaning he will complete the month having run 310 kilometres, which is about the equivalent of running from Salford to the centre of Glasgow!
Day five done in my 10k a day in October. Running for the young people in Salford to raise money for a youthworker @_Lifecentre Today I was thinking about our fantastic local councillors and @Salford_mayor who do a great job. @Cllrjwarmisham @RLong_Bailey https://t.co/8ruO5kcXA4 pic.twitter.com/KJWPCgnvfm

So far, Andrew has raised £119 for this incredible cause but, with almost four weeks left of this marathon challenge, he is aiming to raise £2000 before this month is over.
Life Centre have recently celebrated their 20th anniversary and continue to do great work throughout the city, including delivering free school meals for children who are having to self-isolate because of COVID-19.
They believe that, during these testing times, it is more important than ever to support young people and Andrew’s efforts go a long way to helping them do this:
“We are so excited by Andrew Lane’s October 10k challenge for the Lifecentre.
“We believe that supporting young people at the current time is more important than ever, and as always we rely on our supporters to make a real difference in the community in which they live.
“Andrew’s hard work will enable us to employ a youth worker to support young people in Salford, a much needed resource right now.
“We hope everyone will get behind Andrew and help him reach his target in October, making a lasting difference to young people in Salford. Thankyou Andrew!”
