With Salford Red Devils now only two games away from a Coral Challenge Cup final place, head coach Ian Watson admitted he has set his sights on the prestigious silverware.

First, Watson’s men must deal with the task of overturning Catalans Dragons in tomorrow evening’s Coral Challenge Cup quarter-final, at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Watson said: “We just need to focus on Catalans for now and not get carried away.

“We’ve made it no secret that we want to try and win the Challenge Cup in-house.

“So, we need to put on our best performance against Catalans to be able to do that.”

With fullback Niall Evalds now added to the injury list, Watson highlighted the versatility in his squad that softens the blow when key players are unavailable.

“We do have to be smart with getting players who’ve got that utility value to them,” he said.

“A lot of our back line can play fullback, wing and centre.

“The quality of our squad is getting better and better all the time. It’s building really nicely.”
