At 11am today, the nation will pay tribute to the frontline staff who have sadly died with Coronavirus.
Salfordians are urged to take part in the minute’s silence safely from the comfort of your own home or wherever you may be.
Supermarkets, still enforcing social distancing rules are expecting shops to fall silent to pay tribute to the fallen workers at 11am today.
The civic centre in Salford is to be lit up in purple today to link this year’s International Workers Memorial Day with the global fight against COVID-19.

There were a reported 84 deaths across the UK among health workers last week, with 69 NHS staff and 15 care workers dying.

This comes after Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced yesterday that families of frontline staff, who have lost their lives to Covid-19,will receive a payment of £60,000.
