A free live yoga session hosted by Salford City’s own yoga instructor will take place later today, offering a fun way for the whole family to keep in shape.
The session will be streamed live on the club’s Youtube Channel at 18:30pm, allowing some key workers to also take part after work.
Sheila McVitty, Salford City FC’s Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher, has been sending the first team and academy players yoga sessions to practice during the coronavirus lockdown and the club wanted to offer the same for their fans.

She says: “This is something that everybody can access.
“I’ll be using some of the techniques that sportspeople need to help them keep fit but mindfulness is a really big angle for my session.”
The session will be 30 minutes long, consists of a mixture of gentle movements and a 5-10 minute mindfulness practice at the end.
The UK has been in a police-enforced lockdown since the 23rd of March, with the Prime Minister ordering people to only leave their homes under a list of “very limited purposes”, and closures of non-essential shops.
“People that haven’t done yoga before will really concentrate on the exercises and hopefully that will allow them to forget about the negative things that are going on in the world.”
Salford City first came up with the idea after realising how hard it was to find fun ways of exercising at home to stay in shape.
“We hope the yoga session will get the whole family involved at home.”
“Everybody is welcome, and prior experience is not needed. Just have some fun!”
