Planning consent has been granted for Salford University’s £50 million School of Science, Engineering and Environment block on Peel Park Campus.
The new building will be located next to the New Adelphi building and opposite the University’s faith centre. The building will cover 90,000 sq ft and will be four stories high.
The School of Computing, Science and Engineering, the School of the Built Environment and the School of Environmental Life Sciences will merge to form the School of Science, Engineering and Environment and will inhabit the new block.
Salford Biomedical student, Adam Jones, said: “I feel like the fact that science is constantly evolving means that our facilities should be evolving too.”
The University of Salford aims to have a sustainable campus to improve the student community and experience, and support future growth and investment in which this new building will be part of.
A spokesperson of the Uni said: “The new School of Science, Engineering and Environment building will provide state-of-the-art teaching and research space to give our students an excellent learning experience.
“The impressive new building will be based at the heart of the campus and will promote our expertise in several areas of engineering (including Robotics); building construction and architecture; computer science, maths and physics.”
